Oliver Jarvis Claims Pole for 57th Rolex 24 At DAYTONA

Written by Tyler Pastorius

The 57th running of the Rolex 24 at Daytona will be this weekend with Oliver Jarvis starting up front. Jarvis qualified with a 1:33.6885 lap on the course.

“This has been a serious effort … to put it all together…To put it on pole, I think it represents what we’re here to do. We’re here to show that we’re capable of winning races. We’re very happy, there’s a great cohesion in the team, we’ve got some fantastic partners and we’re just working more together. We’re enjoying our racing… But Daytona is about staying out of trouble. We’re going to try and do that and then the last four hours we want to put ourselves in a position to win it. That’s the goal for sure.” Jarvis said.

The No. 77 Castrol Mazda Prototype will be leading the pack alongside of the No. 7 Acura DPi,, with Ricky Taylor ending qualifying by posting a 1:33.873 for his team.

With other entrants from former Formula 1 champions, Indy 500 champions, IndyCar Series champions, and former Rolex 24 race winners. The field is stacked with competition and should be a good race come Saturday afternoon.

A 24-hour race just isn’t about speed but rather endurance so it will be interesting to see how Jarvis and hi steam handles starting on the pole position and how they finish.

The race is live on NBCSN at 2:35 PM EST from Daytona International Speedway this Saturday.
