Kyle Busch in Class Alone To Start 2019 After Phoenix Sweep

Phoenix, AZ – Kyle Busch took home the top prize in Sundays Ticket Guardian 500 at ISM Raceway for his 199th career NASCAR win, and his 52nd career Cup win.

This puts Busch in a class of his own to start the 2019 Cup series, as he is the only driver to finish all four races in the top 10 so far this season. Additionally, he’s the only driver with three top-fives this season as well.

For Kyle Busch, he’s not worried about the numbers just yet, he’s more interested in dishing out praise for those that helped get him to this point.

“It’s not for me to worry about.  It’s for everybody else to discuss and talk about and argue over and debate,” says Busch. “But for myself and the career that I’ve had, I’ve been fortunate to be with a lot of great people, a lot of great sponsors, those that stick around me like Joe Gibbs, M&M Skittles, Snickers, Interstate Batteries that has always been behind me is what it’s all about for me. To work with my guys, take them to Victory Lane is what it’s all about.”

The debate will certainly heat up as the season goes along.

Of the 11 total NASCAR events run in this year’s top three series, Busch has entered into eight of those events and pulled into victory lane five times this season already.

This win puts him just two Cup victories away from tying Lee Petty for the 10th most Cup wins all time. He’s the 2nd winningest current Cup driver, trailing only Jimmie Johnson who has 83 wins.

Despite the success, Busch remains adamant that he still has more to prove, going out to even set himself a lofty goal of getting to 100 Cup wins before he retires.

“Might as well set your goals high, go out there and achieve.  Let’s set it at a hundred and see if we can’t get there.  That would certainly put us up there with the top guys, being one of the best of the best. But overall that’s a long ways to go.” says Busch,  ” You got to win a lot of races, a lot of years, to be able to tally up that many.  I’m not quite as good as Jeff Gordon any more with being able to win 10 races a year or 13 races a year.  I don’t know if those details will happen that much anymore. Last year we gave it a shot with eight.  See if we can’t keep firing them off like we are right now and living the dream, baby.”

Rowdy will now head to Auto Club Speedway, where he will aim to set history as he races in another double header weekend. With a sweep next weekend, he would sit at 201 overall wins in the NASCAR top 3 series, which would be the most all-time.
