App St. Look To Keep Momentum Rolling As Texas State Comes To Town

Appalachian State (3-2, 1-1 Sun Belt) are on the road this week as they take on Texas State (2-3, 0-1 Sun Belt) at 7 pm EST on ESPN+. The Mountaineers are coming off a 49-0 shutout over The Citadel last week. The Bobcats are looking to bounce back from a 40-13 defeat to James Madison. 

QB Chase Brice had four touchdown passes to lead the Mountaineers last week. He was 12/18 for 265 yards. CamerunPeoples had four carries for 102 yards and a score. Kanye Roberts added a score and 70 yards on seven carries. ChristanHorn led all receivers with three catches for 132 yards and two scores. 

Brice has 15 touchdowns on the season with only two interceptions. He’s thrown for 1,279 yards. Peoples has 57 carries for 366 yards and three touchdowns. Horn has 15 receptions for 344 yards and four scores. 

For Texas State, QB Layne Hatcher has thrown for 1,207 yards and 11 touchdowns on the season with a 60.8% completion rate. Calvin Hill is the leading rusher with 68 carries for 308 yards and a score. Lincoln Pare has 49 carries for 212 yards. Ashtyn Hawkins has 37 receptions and 332 yards with five touchdowns to lead the receiving core. The 37 receptions are good for ninth in the nation. 

Appalachian State is outgaining Texas Tech 452.6 to 345.4. Both teams are giving up nearly identical yards a game 338.6/338.8. The Mountaineers lead the series 6-0.
