HOUSTON — The Astros wasted no time asserting control Tuesday night at Daikin Park, jumping all over the Oakland Athletics en route to a commanding 11–1 victory. From the opening pitch, it was clear Houston had come ready to make a statement.
Jose Altuve lit the spark early with a solo home run in the third inning, followed by a towering two-run shot in the fourth. He finished the night 4-for-4, driving in three and continuing to prove why he’s the heartbeat of this Astros squad. His performance marked his 40th career four-hit game — a milestone moment met with loud ovations from the home crowd.
Jeremy Peña added to the damage with a two-run blast of his own in the second, and Christian Walker capped off the power surge with a two-run homer in the sixth. By the time the dust settled, Houston had piled up 14 hits and posted runs in five different innings.
On the mound, Hunter Brown delivered one of his strongest outings of the season. The right-hander went six full innings, allowing just one earned run while striking out eight. The bullpen followed with three clean frames to lock it down and keep the A’s offense quiet for the rest of the night.
With the win, the Astros improved to 29–25 and notched their third straight victory, keeping pace in the tight American League West. Oakland, meanwhile, dropped to 23–32 and continues to slide after a promising start to the year.
Tuesday night wasn’t just about the scoreboard — it was about the atmosphere, the hustle, and the joy of baseball on a warm spring night in Houston. And capturing every bit of that energy was SkyBoat’s own James Leyva, who was on the field from first pitch to final handshake. His images tell the full story — the focus in the batter’s box, the emotion in the dugout, and the magic under the stadium lights.
