Atlanta Falcons Reach Deal with Todd Gurley

ATLANTA – The Atlanta Falcons have reached an agreement on a one-year deal with veteran running back Todd Gurley.

Gurley, 25, is heading into his sixth season in the league since departing the University of Georgia. He was selected with the tenth overall pick of the 2015 NFL Draft by the St. Louis Rams, who have since relocated to Los Angeles. Gurley was named NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year after rushing for 1,106 yards and ten touchdowns in his first year.

The Tarboro, North Carolina, native enjoyed a phenomenal two-year stretch in 2017 and 2018. He amassed 2,556 rushing yards and 30 rushing touchdowns while adding 1,368 yards and ten scores in the passing game.

Gurley is set to join the Falcons high-powered offense and should be a formidable force on the ground. He’s set to replace Devonta Freeman, who was released earlier this offseason, as the starting running back in Atlanta.

Gurley’s return to Georgia will provide him with a great opportunity to re-ignite his career on a team with playoff aspirations in a deep and talented division.
