Atlanta Falcons Wrap Week 1 of Trainng Camp with Military Appreciation Day

Written by Adrian Beecher

Flowery Branch, GA – The Atlanta Falcons wrapped up their first full week of practice at Flowery Branch on Saturday morning with their fourth annual Military Appreciation Day.

“What an awesome day for us. This is our fourth year of doing these military programs, so today 24 families from T.A.P.S. (Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors), a bunch of active service men and women from Fort Benning and a number of retired active reserves here, so it was a great way for us to pay tribute back to them and awesome day.” said Falcons head coach Dan Quinn post-practice.

One of the highlights of the day was a completion of the team scrimmage that was started on Monday.  Players were broken up into two squads with no particular player on either side, with the ones and twos mixed on each team.

“We did a lot of situational work. We basically played the second half of a game. Kicked off, third quarter, fourth quarter, all the way through. We’ve been working towards this block over the last few days, and today it came all the way through, so excellent day. Much love and respect to all military men and women that joined us today.” said Quinn.

The players will get to rest up with an off day on Sunday before things kick into high gear for preparation of their first preseason game on the horizon. They will practice at 9:20 am on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Then on Thursday, the team will do a walk through in a closed session before getting on the plane and heading to East Rutherford, New Jersey for their Friday night matchup against the Jets at MetLife Stadium.
