CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The first College Football Playoff Selection Committee rankings of the 2018 season were announced Tuesday evening and Boston College was ranked 22nd. It is the first time BC has ever been ranked in the College Football Playoff rankings since they debuted in 2014.

BC is 6-2 overall and 3-1 in the ACC after last Friday’s 27-13 win over then-No. 25 Miami.

Boston College’s 6-2 start to the season is the best start by a BC team since the 2007 squad opened the year a perfect 8-0. This year’s 6-2 record marks just the sixth time since 2000 BC has started 6-2 or better.

In 120 seasons of football at Boston College, the Eagles have started a season 6-2 or better just 34 times.

The Eagles return to action Saturday at Virginia Tech (4-3, 3-1 ACC). Kickoff is set for 3:45 p.m. from Lane Stadium with live coverage on Raycom Sports (My-38 in Boston) and the BC IMG Sports Network (93.7 FM WEEI).
