Buckeyes Knockout Badgers In Columbus

The #3 Ohio State Buckeyes continued its winning ways blowing out the Wisconsin Badgers 52-21 last night. With the win, the Buckeyes move to 4-0 on the year and 1-0 in Big Ten conference play. The Badgers drop to 2-2 and 0-1 in the Big Ten. 

The Buckeyes had a balanced attack starting with C.J. Stroud throwing for 281 yards and five touchdowns. Ohio State had 258 rushing yards led by TreVeyon Henderson (21 carries for 121 yards), and Miyan Williams (11 carries for 101 yards and two touchdowns). 

Emeka Egbuka hauled in six receptions for 118 yards and two touchdowns. Julian Fleming added four receptions for 67 yards and a score while Cade Stover had four catches for 51 yards and two scores. The Buckeyes outgained Wisconsin 539-296.

Despite the blowout loss, there were bright spots for the Badgers. They were able to move the ball on the ground against the Buckeyes led by Braelon Allen with 23 carries for 165 yards and a score. John Torchio picked off a Stroud pass and had seven tackles. Maema Njongmeta led the Badgers with nine tackles. 

The Buckeyes opened up the game scoring 28 unanswered points including 21 in the first quarter. Williams got things going on a two-yard run at 12:13 in the first quarter. Stroud’s first touchdown came on a 13-yard pass to Stover. He would find Stover again with 3:55 left in the first quarter for a two-yard score.

In the second quarter, Williams would score on a three-yard run. The Badgers would score for the first time when QB Graham Mertz scored from one yard out. The Buckeyes would kick a 25-yard field goal for a 31-7 halftime lead. 

In the third, Stroud would throw two more touchdowns, a 12-yarder to Fleming and an eight-yarder to Egbuka.

The Badgers would outscore the Buckeyes 14-7 in the fourth. Mertz (11/20, 94 yards) threw a two-yard touchdown to Jackson Acker. It was Acker’s only catch of the game. Allen would then score the final touchdown of the game on a 75-yard run. 

Stroud’s fifth TD came in-between the Badgers scores on a 32-yarder to Egbuka.

Wisconsin: Will host Illinois next Saturday.

Ohio State: Will host Rutgers next Saturday in its fifth straight home game.
