(Fontana, CA)  The NASCAR Xfinity Series Qualifying rounds were underway Saturday morning.  The weather Saturday morning was wet and overcast, which was a concern for some but thanks to the beauty of California, the weather permitting a great day for a race.  If the qualifying rounds are anything like the race, there will be a lot of excitement coming our way.

In the first round, we saw multiple shifts in the top five spots, but we also saw a driver spin out as well.  No. 22 Discount Tire Ford of Joey Logano came in the first position during the first round of the time trials.  No. 20 GameStop/ Turtle Beach Toyota of Christopher Bell followed closely behind Logano, and No. 21 South Point Hotel & Casino Chevrolet of Daniel Hemric rounded out the top three spots.  No. 00 Haas Automation Ford of Cole Custer and No. 16 Drive Down A1C Lilly Diabetes For of Ryan Reed took the fourth and fifth spots going in the second round of qualifiers.  Not all the drivers had a good qualifying lap. Driver No. 28 thinQ Technology Partners Ford of Dylan Lupton was the only one that could not finish due to bumping the wall and spinning out.  Lupton may be at the end, but the big concern for his crew is whether they can get the car ready for the race.

As the second round of the time trials were underway, you could tell that Logano really wanted that top pole position spot.  Unfortunately for Logano, Bell wanted the spot more.  The top three spots belong to Bell, Logano and bringing up the third-place spot is No. 42 Fire Alarm Services Inc. Chevrolet of John H. Nemechek.  Nemechek crept up the ladder to place himself in a commanding position compared to the other drivers.  Rounding out the top five in qualifiers is Custer in fourth, and Hemric in fifth.

At the end of the qualifying rounds we have our top five set in stone.  The clouds are moving away and the sun is shining.  It is a beautiful day for racing, and with how excited the drivers and fans are, it is no doubt that we will be in for a treat.  Hopefully we don’t see to many more spinouts or any accidents, as I am sure we all want to see a safe race.  Today’s race is set to start at 2:00 PM PST on FS1.
