Clemson Holds Off FSU Rally In Tallahassee

No. 4 Clemson survived a late comeback from Florida State to move to 7-0 (5-0 ACC) with a 34-28 victory. Florida State falls to 4-3 and 2-3 in the ACC. Clemson QB DJ Uiagalelei had another strong showing with three touchdowns in the air and one on the ground. He finished with 203 yards passing and 26 rushing. 

The Seminoles got out to an early 7-0 lead with a 20-yard Jordan Travis run. The Tigers would answer back at the 6:52 mark in the first quarter with Uiagalelei’s first TD pass of the day, a 59-yarder to Antonio Williams. 

Florida would retake the lead just five seconds into the second quarter on a DJ Lundy one-yard run. Clemson would tie things up again with Jake Briningstool on the receiving end of a seven-yard pass. Clemson would take the lead for the first time with just under two minutes left in the half with a B.T. Potter 47-yard field goal. The Tigers stretched the lead to 24-14 when Uiagalelei scored from five yards out with 19 seconds left. 

The Tigers would score 10 points in the third quarter to give them a 31-14 lead. Davis Allen caught a 31-yard pass. 

A pair of Travis TDs made things interesting in the fourth but the Tigers held on to defeat FSU for the 7th straight time. Will Shipley led all Tigers on the ground with 20 carries for 121 yards. Williams had two catches for 76 yards and a score. 

Myles Murphy had two sacks for Clemson and 3.5 tackles for a loss.

Travis finished the game with 252 yards and two scores in the air. He carried 14 times for 64 yards and another score.

Florida State: Has a bye week before hosting Georgia Tech on Oct. 29.
