The University of Tennessee, located in Knoxville, Tenn., will host ESPN’s College GameDay in advance of the Florida vs. Tennessee matchup on Saturday, September 24. The flash-funding in Knoxville is the second to take place during Extra Yard for Teachers Week, following a similar collaboration between the CFP Foundation and ESPN to finance over 120 classroom projects at schools in the Louisville metropolitan area prior to the Florida State vs. Louisville game on Saturday, September 17.
The financial backing of DonorsChoose.org classroom project requests in the two communities comes in celebration of Extra Yard for Teachers Week, an eight-day period spanning Saturday, September 17 to Saturday, September 24, dedicated to recognizing educators throughout the country. During this time, the CFP Foundation and its partners, along with universities, bowls, and conferences, use the powerful platform of college football to support teachers throughout the country.
The CFP Foundation and ESPN have flash-funded over 2,725 classroom project requests since 2015, benefiting over 250,000 students in multiple communities. To date, the CFP Foundation has provided more than $5 million dollars in supporting education through the following initiatives: 1) Direct Provision of Resources, 2) Teacher Recognition, and 3) Professional Development.
