IRVING, Texas – Bill Hancock, Executive Director of the College Football Playoff (CFP), announced today that Katie Cavender has been named Assistant Director, Communications and Claudia Dorsey has been promoted to Assistant Director, Business and Ticket Operations.
Cavender comes to the CFP from the Mountain West Conference, where she has been Assistant Commissioner, Advanced Media and Digital Strategy, responsible for the strategic vision, execution and analysis of the MW brand presence across its digital platforms, including social, web and mobile channels. Additionally, she was a guest lecturer and teaching assistant at the University of Washington. Cavender holds a B.A. in Journalism from the University of Nevada, Reno and an M.Ed. in Intercollegiate Athletic Leadership from the University of Washington.
Dorsey has been a member of the CFP staff since July of 2015. In her new position, she will have expanded duties in the areas of licensing, ticketing and business operations. She previously worked in corporate relationships at the NCAA, working with several of the NCAA’s top accounts and delivering on-site activation at the Men’s Final Four, Men’s and Women’s College World Series, Volleyball, Wrestling and other championships. Dorsey is a graduate of DePaul University, where she received a bachelor of arts in psychology. She and her husband, Ryan, have two sons, Mason and Myles.
