With their postseason hopes hanging in the balance, the Colorado Buffaloes (3-6) face a must-win scenario as they host the West Virginia Mountaineers (3-6) on Saturday at noon ET. The game will air on TNT and stream on HBO Max.

Last Time Out

Colorado’s defensive struggles continued in a 52-17 loss to Arizona, marking the second straight game in which the Buffaloes allowed 50 or more points.

Three quarterbacks saw action for Colorado, but it was true freshman Julian Lewis who impressed most — completing 9 of 17 passes for 121 yards and a touchdown. Lewis will start this week as the program looks for a spark on offense.

Quarterback Kaidon Salter added 49 passing yards with a touchdown and an interception on 11-of-15 passing. On the ground, Dallan Hayden carried nine times for 34 yards, while Micah Welch added 32 yards on 10 carries.
Wide receiver Omarion Miller continued to shine as the team’s most reliable weapon, hauling in five passes for 91 yards and two touchdowns.

What to Watch

The biggest question for Colorado entering Week 11: Can the defense get stops?
The Buffaloes have allowed over 50 points in back-to-back games, struggling to contain explosive plays both through the air and on the ground.

On offense, the focus will be on Julian Lewis, whose poise and accuracy last week gave Colorado’s passing game life. A strong showing could solidify his role as the starter for the rest of the season — and give the Buffaloes momentum for a late-season run.

Strength of Schedule

Colorado’s path hasn’t been easy. Entering Week 11, the Buffaloes have played the second-toughest schedule in the nation, with their opponents combining for a 48-20 record.

Team Leaders

Passing: Kaidon Salter – 1,242 yards, 10 TD, 6 INT
Rushing: Micah Welch – 78 carries, 313 yards, 2 TD
Receiving: Omarion Miller – 28 receptions, 521 yards, 6 TD

Prediction

Expect fireworks in Boulder. Lewis gives the Buffaloes’ offense a spark and shows he can lead the program moving forward. The defense bends but does just enough to hang on late.
Final Score: Colorado 35, West Virginia 31.
