Eli Tomac took home the top prize in Saturday night’s Supercross 450SX Main at Daytona International Speedway.
Blake Baggett on the No. 4 bike grabbed the hole shot out of the gate and led the first couple laps as he looked to hold off Tomac. However, on lap 3, Tomac gathered himself and ran the fastest lap on the track tp this point.
He rode that momentum to pass Baggett on the ensuing lap. Baggett began to fall back, and it was Cooper Webb taking the 2nd position on lap 7 trying to reel in Tomac. However, on the previous two laps, Tomac had turned the fastest laps back-to-back in the race.
This had built a nice lead for Tomac and the points leader Webb wasn’t able to reel him back in. In the end it was a victory for Tomac by 6.889-seconds over Webb.
It marks the 3rd win of the season for Tomac, who is now tied for 2nd place in the standings with Marvin Musquin with 203 points overall. These two are just 19 points behind the leader Webb.
