Deep Dive Into Both Teams Ahead of the SEC Championship at Mercedes-Benz Stadium

ATLANTA – The undefeated Georgia Bulldogs and the 11-1 Alabama Crimson Tide will take the field on December 4th to face off in the SEC Championship Game.

The last time these two teams met, Alabama defeated Georgia 41 to 24. Alabama and Georgia have faced each other 70 times and Alabama leads all time with a record of 41 – 25 – 4. Alabama has had a win streak over Georgia since 2008.

Alabama is coming off of a win against Auburn on Thanksgiving even though Alabama struggled offensively against Auburn. Georgia is coming off of a big win against Georgia Tech on Thanksgiving, in which they shut out Tech, winning that game 45 to 0.

Alabama is typically never the underdog, this time things are different, The Crimson Tide is underdog in the SEC Championship. The last time Alabama was the underdog was actually against Georgia back in 2015.

This season Georgia has been dynamic on both offense and defense. Georgia’s offense averages about 40 point per game and defense allows less than 10 points per game.

Georgia is looking to become the 4th SEC team to play an undefeated regular season. Meanwhile, Alabama is looking to claim the victory in this game because if Alabama looses it could possibly kick them out of the College Football Playoffs.

This season Alabama quarterback Bryce Young averages a little over 9 yards a play, has a total of 90 touchdowns and a quarterback rating of 86.7. Georgia quarterback Stetson Bennett had 21 touchdowns this season and and quarterback rating of 88.8. Georgia’s run game is also on point. Running back Zamir White has had 691 yards and 10 touchdowns. James Cook is going into this game with 581 yards and 7 touchdowns together they both average 5.8 yards a carry.

In last year’s game Bennett completed only 18 out of 40 passes and threw a few interceptions and this year he is looking to have a way better performance than last year’s performance.

Mercedes-Benz Stadium will be the site for the SEC Championship Game Right now two tickets together are starting at $350 in the nosebleeds. If you want some good seats down in the 100 level you could end up paying $690 to over $2,000. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. ET televised on CBS.
