Gameday Headed To Happy Valley For Big Ten/SEC Showdown

ESPN’s College Gameday will be headed to Happy Valley next weekend as the undefeated Auburn Tigers come to town to face the undefeated Penn State Nittany Lions at Beaver Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7:30 pm EST on ABC.

Two games into the season, the Tigers are steamrolling their competition. They are averaging 61 points a game after blanking Alabama State 62-0 on Saturday. It should be noted their other opponent was Akron, who they beat 62-10, while the Zips lost 45-24 to Temple on Saturday. Also note, Temple lost 61-14 to Rutgers in week one. So, in summary, for Auburn, we don’t really know what the Tigers really have in the stable… Yet…

Penn State, on the other hand, went up to Camp Randall last weekend and beat 12th ranked Wisconsin 16-10. This weekend they whooped up on Ball State 44-13. We do know that quarterback Sean Clifford is locked in, passing for 477 yards this season on 39 of 62 passes, including two touchdowns.

The two schools have only met twice in their storied histories. Both have come out on top with a win, with the Tigers taking the last meeting back in 2013 at the Capitol One Bowl in Orlando, Florida. The Nittany Lions won the first meeting back in the 1996 Outback Bowl. This will be the first meeting of the two schools in the regular season. It marks the 10th time GameDay has come to Beaver Stadium.
