Georgia Tech Wraps Spring Camp With Gold and White Game

Written by Evan Long

What a beautiful Friday evening on April 26, 2019, to kick off the GATech Gold vs. White Spring Game with 21,194 fans in attendance.  Though a tease before the official 2019-2020 Georgia Tech Football season opener on August 29, 2019, at defending 2019 National Champions Clemson, the scrimmage Gold vs. White was exciting.  With three first-quarter touchdowns two led by the White teams’ wide receiver Ahmarean Brown’s touchdown pass from quarterback Lucas Johnson, running back C. Malloy’s rush of thirteen yards and a Gold team thirty-nine-yard touchdown pass from quarterback James Graham to wide receiver A. Sanders, the game was off to a competitive battle.

The second half was off to a slow start for both the Ga Tech Gold and. White teams but was revived by two third-quarter touchdowns from running back Jordan Mason.  With the score Gold 30- White 20 late in the third quarter both teams had the fire and desire to play a good scrimmage for the Tech fans.

With both defensive and offensive coaches on the field with players, it helped the coaching staff get a closer perspective on plays needed to be executed to have a successful 2019 season.  With backup, yellow jackets quarterback Lucas Johnson throwing for 193 yards and running back Jordan Mason rushing for 91 yards, Georgia Tech seems to have some good weapons that will be a huge surprise for opponents.

With final score Georgia Tech Gold 30 White 20 the Yellowjackets will focus to win a National Championship since 1990.  Georgia Tech head coach Geoff Collins is on a diligent mission to bring Georgia Tech to the top.
