Huskers start season off with matchup against Fresno State

There’s nothing more reassuring than a veteran under center.

That’s a luxury the Nebraska Cornhuskers have entering the 2016 season. Tommy Armstrong Jr. returns to Memorial Stadium for his junior season. Fifteen other starters from the Huskers’ 2015 lineup join him, making them one of the more veteran teams in the Big Ten Conference.

Nebraska struggled in 2015, going 6-7in head coach Mike Riley’s first year at the position. Riley hopes to improve on that starting this Saturday against Fresno State.

A victory over the Bulldogs would give Riley his 100th win as a collegiate head coach. He currently is tenth in most wins among active coaches at power five conference schools.

A victory for Fresno State however would be the 100th win for their head coach as well, Tim DeRuyter. DeRuyter enters his fifth year as head coach of the Fresno State Bulldogs, and looks to right the ship after going 3-9 in 2015.

Kickoff for this game takes place in Lincoln, Nebraska just after 8 p.m. EST. This game can be viewed on the Big Ten Network.
