Kansas State took a 24-0 lead over Stanford before the Cardinal was able to put up any points in a very one-sided affair at AT&T Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

In the first half, the Stanford Cardinal offense was only able to muster up 85 yards of total offense. Meanwhile, K-State was mostly stagnant on offense, despite two big-time dives in the 1st half.

The first score of the game came following a 56-yard  pass from Skylar Thompson to Phillip Brooks on the first play of their second drive. Thompson would then finish the drive on the next play with a 6-yard rushing TD.

Then midway through the 3rd, on a 3rd and 13 from their own 41-yard line, running back Deuce Vaughn broke free and booked his to the endzone on a 59-yard rushing TD.

By halftime, the Wildcats had racked up 240 yards on offense compared to the 87 from Stanford.

In the second half, K-State opened with possession and were unable to move the ball anywhere in a quick three and out that netted zero yards. Staford was unable to counter this with any points, though, as the two went scoreless in the 3rd quarter.

K-State would add a field goal on their first drive of the 4th quarter. After getting down to the Cardinal 21 yard line, Taiten Winkel drilled through a 40-yard field goal to put the Wildcats on top 17-0 with 10:08 left in regulation.

On the ensuing possession, bad went to worse for the Cardinal. Quarterback Jack West was picked off by TJ Smith, who returned it all the way to the Cardinal 20 yard line.

It would then take the Wildcats just two plays to find the endzone as Thompson once again took it in with his legs. This made 24-0 Kansas State with just 7:10 left in the game.

Stanford was determined to not get shut out, as they worked to put together a solid final drive of the game. Tanner McKee led the charge at QB as the Cardinal went 75-yards on 10-plays for their first score of the game. McKee would find Brycen Tremayne for 14 yards for the score to make it a 17-point game.

The Cardinal tried for the on-sides kick to no avail, and the Wildcats ran out the final 3:16 on the clock to seal the victory.

KSU QB Skylar Thompson finished the game 9 for 14, passing for 144 yards, and threw one pick. Running back Deuce Vaughn really stole the show for the Wildcats with 124 yards rushing and a TD on 13 carries.

Stanford Tanner McKee completed 15 of 18 passes for 118 yards and the one touchdown pass after replacing Jack West at QB.

Stanford will look to regroup before heading the Los Angeles next week to take on USC. Meanwhile, K-State heads back to Manhattan with momentum ahead of their home game against the Southern Illinois Salukis.
