Monster Energy All-Star Race Day Preview

CONCORD, NC- The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series descends on Charlotte Motor Speedway tonight for the 35th running of the Monster Energy All-Star Race. Kevin Harvick scored the victory in the 2018 edition of this event.

Currently, 15 drivers are locked into the event. Four more will join them upon completion of the Monster Energy Open (6:00 PM EDT on FS1).

The Open race field is comprised of drivers that compete full time in Cup Series competition, have not previously won the Monster Energy All-Star Race or the Cup Series championship, and have not won since the start of the 2018 NASCAR season.

The Open race features three stages (20 laps/20 laps/10 laps) and each stage winner advances to the main event (8:00 PM EDT on FS1). One fan vote winner will also transfer.

Once the field is set for the main event, driver introductions will provide an exciting show for the spectators as they get the chance to see their favorite drivers up close.

The Monster Energy All Star Race features four stages (30 laps/20 laps/20 laps/15 laps).

Perhaps the best quality of the All-Star Race is the fact that there are no points on the line, just a staggering $1 million prize to the main event winner. Tonight, drivers will abide by the old adage and either bring back the steering wheel or the checkered flag.

The Fords were incredibly strong during Friday’s two practice sessions and that will, in all likelihood, carry over to tonight’s race. In particular, Stewart-Haas Racing’s cars all looked rather impressive and Team Penske looked solid, as well.

Any Fantasy NASCAR lineup should feature Fords prominently, in particular, polesitter Clint Bowyer and his teammate Kevin Harvick.

However, when there is a million dollar payday on the line all bets are off. Tonight’s event promises to be an exhilarating one all the way to the checkered flag.
