NCS State Starts 3-0 After Win Over Texas Tech

The #16 NC State Wolfpack moved to 3-0 on the season as they defeated the Texas Tech Red Raiders (2-1) 27-14. The Wolfpack defense held the Red Raiders to just 2/12 on third down and forced a fumble and three interceptions.

Aydan White had two of the interceptions including an 84-yard pick-six in the second quarter. 

Jakeen Harris had the other INT for the Wolfpack. 

The Wolfpack also recorded four sacks in the game. C.J. Clark had two while Isaiah Moore and White added a sack. For the game, White finished with five tackles, a sack, and two interceptions. 

In the first quarter, the Wolfpack took a 6-0 lead on a pair of field goals by Christopher Dunn.

The first touchdown of the game came at 10:13 of the second quarter when Demie Sumo-Karngbaye ran for 14 yards to give NC State a 13-0 lead. After White’s pick-six, the Red Raiders would score with 50 seconds left in the half when Myles Price hauled in a 24-yard pass from QB Donovan Smith bringing the score to 20-7 Wolfpack.

After a scoreless third quarter, Sumo-Karngbaye would score again, this time on a 38-yard pass from backup QB Thayer Thomas. 

Smith would score on a three-yard run for the Red Raiders to finish up the game. 

Starting QB Devin Leary threw for 121 yards for the Wolfpack. Thomas had the one pass for the score. 

Jordan Houston had 13 carries for 57 yards. Sumo-Karngbayehad 54 yards on 14 carries along with four receptions for 93 yards.

For the Red Raiders, Smith threw for 214 yards on 21/36 passing. 

Texas Tech only had 54 yards rushing on 26 attempts. 

Price finished with four receptions for 50 yards.

N.C. State in their final non-conference game of the season, the Wolfpack visits Connecticut next Saturday.

Texas Tech will host #21 Texas in their Big 12 opener next weekend.
