The No. 4 Oregon Ducks (3–0, 1–0 Big Ten) wasted no time asserting themselves in their first conference test, overwhelming Northwestern 34–14 on Saturday. Behind an efficient outing from quarterback Dante Moore, explosive plays on the ground, and a suffocating defense, the Ducks built a 34–0 lead before the Wildcats found the end zone late.
Fast Start, Relentless Pressure
Oregon seized momentum early. After Bryce Boettcher’s 31-yard interception return set the Ducks up with prime field position, Jayden Limar capped the short drive with a one-yard plunge for the game’s opening score.
The Ducks extended the lead in the second quarter:
- Camden Lewis drilled a 42-yard field goal to make it 10–0.
- Moore then connected with Kenyon Sadiq on a 24-yard touchdown strike, stretching the margin to 17–0 at halftime.
Big Plays Break It Open
Oregon wasted no time putting the game out of reach in the second half. On the opening drive, Dierre Hill Jr. exploded through the line for a 66-yard touchdown run, silencing any thoughts of a Northwestern comeback.
The Ducks’ defense continued to feast, forcing another turnover that set up Jordon Davison’s two-yard rushing score. By the end of the third quarter, the rout was complete at 34–0.
Northwestern’s Late Response
The Wildcats avoided the shutout with two fourth-quarter touchdowns. Dashun Reeder ripped off a 79-yard scoring run, and Caleb Komolafe added a two-yard touchdown carry. But by then, Oregon had shifted into cruise control, rotating personnel and bleeding the clock.

The Ducks now turn toward a stretch that will define their season. Next week, Oregon hosts archrival Oregon State in the final installment of the in-state showdown before conference realignment reshapes the rivalry. After that, the Ducks face their first top-five test of the season: a road trip to No. 2 Penn State, followed by a potential back-to-back ranked matchup against No. 22 Indiana.
With a balance of efficiency, explosiveness, and defensive grit, Oregon looks every bit like a playoff contender heading into the heart of Big Ten play.
