Ohio State Steamrolls Miami Ohio After Slow Start

Ohio State started off slow, falling behind 5-0 to Miami of Ohio. However, after they got things rolling, the 6th ranked Buckeyes cruised their way to a 76-5 win over the Redhawks.

Justin Fields was in rare form for the Buckeyes, completing 14 of 21 passes for 223 yards and 4 TDs through the air. He also added two rushing TDs on the day off of 9 carries for 36 yards.

Speaking on the ground game, Ohio State’s backfield was able to rush for 227 yards. However, they did not have just one person stand out, with seven different players combining on 42 carries. Freshman Steele Chambers was the leader of the pack with a career-high 63 yards on eight carries.

K.J. Hill led the receiving corps with two catches for 78 yards, including a 53 yard TD reception early in the 2nd quarter. The longest TD reception of the day went to the man sitting second in receiving yards, Jameson Williams who hauled in a 61 yard TD catch early in the fourth quarter to highlight his two catch 74-yard day.

Looking at the defensive side of the ball, the Buckeyes tallied up five sacks. Junior defensive end Chase Young led the defense with two sacks, his second straight game with two sacks. Young leads the team at five after the first four games of the season.

From a team perspective, the Buckeyes tallied 601 total offensive yards, compared to just 130 yards from the Redhawks. OSU had 30 first downs to just ten from Miami, and just one turnover to three by Miami. The opposing quarterback Brett Gabbert was just 5 of 15 for 48 yards and an interception.

Ohio State now heads back on the road, for their toughest test yet this season. A nightcap in Lincoln against Scott Frost and the Cornhuskers is on tap. Nebraska squeaked by the Illini on Saturday with a 42-38 win. Ohio State enters 4-0 with the Huskers sitting at 3-1, with a loss to Colorado on the road in overtime by three.
