The 2019 college football season is entering its first full week and the 12th ranked Texas A&M Aggies open up at home against the Texas State Bobcats. In their two meetings against each other the Aggies hold the lead 2-0. This season marks year two for head coach Jimbo Fisher.
Last year, the Aggies finished 9-4, 5-3 SEC including a 52-13 win against NC State in the Taxslayer Gator Bowl. Jimbo Fisher is 92-27 in his career as a head coach.
The Aggies return starting junior quarterback Kellen Mond. Mond was fourth in total offense, fifth in passing touchdowns, and sixth in passing yards in the SEC last year. Mond was 238-415 for 57.35% and 3,107 and 24 touchdowns.
Sophomore Jashaun Corbin finished third on the team last year in total offense. He did most of his damage as a kick returner and also backed up running back Trayveon Williams.
Aggie senior punter Braden Mann, is looking to be the fourth person ever to repeat as a Ray Guy Award winner. He had a record-setting 2018 season as he set three NCAA punting records. Mann punted 50 times for 2,549 yards and a 51.0 average on his punts.
On the defensive side, junior defensive lineman Justin Madubuike is the team’s leading tackler from last season. He’s never missed a game and has 12 starts under his belt. Madubuike had 40 tackles including 10.5 for a loss and 5.5 sacks.
The Aggies will have to replace five starters on offense and seven on defense this year. Last year, the Aggies averaged 36 points a game while allowing 25. They had a balanced attack rushing for 2,847 yards and throwing for 3,284.

The Aggies were 41% on converting on third down and 50% on fourth. They held opponents to 30% on third down conversions.
