The Wisconsin Badgers (8-5) end the 2018 season the same way they ended it last year, a bowl win over the Miami Hurricanes (7-6). This year’s game was the New Era Pinstripe Bowl and the Badgers ran away 35-3. Wisconsin running back Jonathan Taylor ran for 205 yards and a touchdown and topped the 2,000-yard mark in the process.
Taylor finishes the year with 2,194 yards which is good for seventh on the FBS single-season list. Taylor had runs of 39 and 41 yards to help lead the Badgers to its fifth straight bowl victory. The Badgers were without starter Alex Hornibrook as he’s suffering from another concussion. Redshirt sophomore Jack Coan got the start for the Badgers.
Wisconsin opened the game with a six play, 65-yard drive that ended with a Coan touchdown to Kendric Pryor for 35 yards. The Badgers defense had a huge day, intercepting Malik Rosier three times including his first pass of the game. Taylor scored on a 7-yard run shortly after to give Wisconsin the lead 14-0.
After the Hurricanes kicked a field goal, the halftime score stood at 14-3. The Badgers made it 21-3 after an Alec Ingold two-yard run. Another Miami interception led to another score when Coan ran it in from seven yards out. The final score of the game came with just a few seconds left when Taiwan Deal punched it in from one yard that capped a 10 play, 53-yard drive all on the ground.
Coan was 6 for 11 for 73 yards and a touchdown in the air and on the ground. The Badgers ran for 333 yards and for scores on 58 carries. The Hurricanes were outgained by Taylor himself 205-169. It was a clean game penalty wise as both teams only had one.
