The Colorado Buffaloes fell to 0-4, 0-1 PAC-12 on the season after a 45-17 outing against the UCLA Bruins (4-0, 1-0 PAC-12). The Buffaloes fell behind 14-0 in the first quarter and never found their footing in this one. Freshman QB Owen McCown, son of the longtime NFL QB Josh McCown made his debut as a starter.
The Buffaloes were driving on its opening drive of the game but a penalty halted the drive and Cole Becker missed a 54-yard field goal. Colorado got on the board in the second quarter on a Becker 35-yard field goal to get within 11. Colorado would then score with 19 seconds left in the first quarter on a McCown two-yard run. The score was on the end of a 74-yard drive. The Buffaloes went into the half trailing 21-10.
Things got away from Colorado in the third quarter, giving up 17 points and 24 unanswered before scoring for the last time with 2:59 left on a McCown eight-yard TD pass to Jordyn Tyson. McCown finished 26/42 for 258 yards and a touchdown.
Colorado couldn’t get much going on the ground. As a team, they ran 34 times for 51 yards and one score. Charlie Offerdahlhad 14 carries for 47 yards. Daniel Arias had four receptions for 82 yards and Tyson had two receptions for 39 yards and the score.
The Buffaloes are having a hard time stopping opposing teams this year having surrendered 173 points.
