Orlando City SC Rallies to Draw with NYCFC in Season Opener

The Lions of Orlando City will start the season with one point, after drawing 2-2 with NYCFC on Saturday afternoon at Orlando City Stadium.

NYCFC found the back of the net early, as Ebenezer Ofoir scored in the 13th minute. Then just before the end of the first half, Alexander Ring notched a goal of his own in the 45th minute to send NYCFC into the locker room with a 2-0 lead.

In the second half, the Lions went on the attack. Just 14 minutes into the second half, Christopher Muller scored to give the Lions their first goal of the season and close the deficit to just one goal.

Then in the 75th minute, Tesho Akindele notched the equalizer for Orlando City to draw 2-2 with NYCFC. This would be the final score, as neither team was able to get the advantage in teh final 15 minutes.

Both squads ended with 13 overall shots, with NYCFC gaining the advantage on target with 6 compared to just 4 for OCSC. despite that, the Lions won the possession battle 58% to 42%.

Orlando’s next match will be on the road as they head up north for a battle with the Chicago Fire on March 9th.
