Aggies Win A Nail-bitter vs Arkansas in Arlington

#23 Texas A&M picked up its third straight win against a top 10 team when they narrowly defeated #10 Arkansas 23-21 last night. Cam Little missed a field goal with 1:30 left in the game as it bounced off the top right goal post and fell in the end zone. The field goal would’ve put the Razorbacks up by one.

Both teams were able to run the ball well. The Aggies (3-1, 1-0 SEC) ran for 192 yards on 34 carries and a score. For the Razorbacks (3-1, 1-1 SEC), they ran for 244 yards on 54 attempts and a score. The Aggies pulled out the win despite going 4/12 on third down and the Razorbacks outgaining them 415-343.

It was all Arkansas in the first quarter. KJ Jefferson threw for two touchdowns of 32 and 56 yards to Ketron Jackson Jr. and Warren Thompson for a 14-0 lead. 

Texas A&M answered back in the second quarter with a pair of touchdowns. Evan Stewart scored on a 10-yard pass from Max Johnson. The Aggies defense scored when Demani Richardson returned a fumble for 82-yards on a wild play. The Aggies would go for two but weren’t successful leaving the Razorbacks up 14-13 at halftime.

The Aggies would take the lead for good at 11:41 in the third quarter when Devon Achane scored on a nine-yard run. A Randy Bond 31-yard field goal would put the Aggies up 23-10.

Arkansas would score for a final time in the fourth quarter on a Jefferson six-yard run. Jefferson finished the day 12/19 for 171 yards and two touchdowns. He led the Razorbacks on the ground with 105 yards on 18 carries and another touchdown. 

For the Aggies, Johnson was 11/21 for 151 yards and a touchdown. Achane rushed for 159 yards on 19 carries and a touchdown. Stewart had three receptions for 36 yards and a score. Richardson had six tackles to go along with the fumble recovery for a score.
