The first major signee to the re-imagination of the XFL was officially announced Thursday afternoon!
At 01:00 Thursday, CST from Globe Life Park, in a press conference simulcast on Facebook LIVE and XFL.com, League Commissioner Oliver Luck introduced former NCAA National Championship winning head coach* Bob Stoops as the head coach and general manager of the league’s forthcoming Dallas based team.
In an interview with Oklahoma City’s CBS affiliate, WKTV, Stoops said he couldn’t be more excited to return to coaching and coach ‘real football.’ “It’ll be fun. It’s a different time of year. I’ve been limited in some of the stuff today this time of year anyway. You can only do so much golf in this period… It’ll be challenging for sure. If it wasn’t, I wouldn’t do it. And if it’s not fun I won’t do it. But I respect the guys running things. ..If it was something goofy or have those old goofy names, I wouldn’t be associated with it.”
Stoops will become the second Oklahoma Sooners head coach to lead a Dallas football team after Barry Switzer led the Dallas Cowboys for four seasons, and led the team to capture their fifth Vince Lombardi trophy in Super Bowl XXX.
