Brad Keselowski Wins Stage 1 of GEICO 500 at Talladega

Written by Adrian Beecher

Talladega, AL– Kevin Harvick led the field to the start-finish line as the green flag dropped to get the 2018 GEICO 500 underway at Talladega Superspeedway. Ahead of the start, however, his teammate Kurt Busch had an issue with his radio communications and was unable to get it fixed, so their team had to improvise and split com channels.

Just 14 laps into the race, a slew of the race leaders came into the pits, this allowed for Alex Bowman to take over the lead. Bowman and 13 other cars would stay out. During the pit stops, David Ragan and Kurt Busch would pick up speeding penalties.

Then with only 16 laps left in the first stage, Bubba Wallace took the lead from Bowman. Two laps later they would all pit, giving up the lead to Brad Keselowski.

Keselowski would hold on to win the stage with his teammate Joey Logano coming in 2nd in the stage.
