Brad Keselowski Wins Weather Extended Stage 2 at Bristol

Bristol, TN- Stage two of the 2018 Food City 500 got underway with Kyle Larson leading the pack to the stripe. Things would stay green until Trevor Bayne in the No. 6 got loose in turn four a ended up into the wall. The field was set to go back to green flag racing with 340 laps to go, however, the rain held off the restart. NASCAR would once again put the field on the backstretch as the red flag flew for the third time.

After 26 minutes and 54 seconds of waiting, the yellow flag once again flew. The green flag would be shown on lap 169 as Kyle Larson led the field to the start-finish line. Erik Jones, who started in 2nd wasn’t able to get a good restart and dropped outside of the top 10 just 4 laps into the restart. With just 49 laps left in the final stage, the ninth caution of the day flew as the rain started to fall. Shortly after, the fourth red flag and the 3rd one for weather was shown as precipitation accumulated on the track.

After a more than a 21 hour delay, the field got back in their cars. With 40 laps left in the final stage, the yellow flag was shown. Then with 32 laps left in the stage the green flag dropped.

Larson maintained his lead until there were just 5 laps to go in the stage. Then with 6 left to go in the stage, Brad Keselwoski bumped Larson out of the way to take the lead. Despite Larson battling, Brad would maintain the lead through the end of the stage. Larson dropped to 5th as his tires ran out of grip.

Kyle Busch took the 2nd position, Jimmie Johnson came in 3rd and Denny Hamlin came in 4th to end the stage.
