Both Louisville (2-3, 0-3 ACC) and Virginia (2-3, 0-2 ACC) look to get to .500 on the season and notch their first conference win when they battle each other in Virginia on Saturday at noon EST. on the ACC Network. The Cardinals are also trying to break a streak of nine straight losses games leading or being tied in the fourth quarter.
For Virginia, it’s the first home game since Sept. 17. Five of the next six games will be at home. The Cardinals will be the first team the Cavaliers have played with a losing record. Last week the Cavaliers lost to Duke 38-17. The Cavaliers will look to get the running game going, having rushed for less than 100 yards in two games this season including just 93 yards in 25 attempts last week.
QB Brennan Armstrong has thrown for 1,050 yards on the season and four touchdowns. Turnovers have been a problem with five interceptions. One more passing touchdown will tie Armstrong with Matt Schaub for most career passing TDs at 56 at Virginia.
The Cardinals are coming off a tough 34-33 loss against Boston College last week. QB Malik Cunninngham had three rushing touchdowns and 62 yards on the ground for Louisville. He threw for 168 yards and a score. He’s questionable for the game. Backup Brock Domann had a rough game last week completing one pass out of eight for 19 yards and an interception.
The two teams met last year with the Cavaliers coming back from 17 down to defeat Louisville 34-33. The series is tied 5-5.
