In the second 2022 College Football Semifinal game, the reigning defending National Champions No. 1 Georgia will take on the No. 4 Ohio State Buckeyes in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl on New Year’s Eve at 8 PM EST on ESPN. The winner will face the winner of the No. 2 Michigan Wolverines/No. 3 TCU Horned Frogs game on January 9th.
The Buckeyes will look to show they belong in the semifinal after a blowout loss to rival Michigan 45-23. It was the Buckeyes only loss of the season. They have quality wins against Penn State and Notre Dame. QB C.J. Stroud was a Heisman finalist. He’s thrown for 3,340 yards and 37 touchdowns to just six interceptions all while not having his top WR for most of the year.
The Buckeyes have three running backs over 500 yards. MiyanWilliams leads the way with 817 yards and 13 scores. TreVeyonHenderson has 571 yards and six touchdowns while DallanHayden has 510 yards with five touchdowns.
Stroud may not have had Jaxon Smith-Njigba for most of the year but as the case with Ohio State, it’s next man up. Marvin Harrison Jr. and Emeka Egbuka answered the call this year. Harrison Jr. has 72 receptions for 1,157 yards and 12 touchdowns. Egbuka has 66 receptions for 1,039 yards and 9 scores.
The Buckeye defense will be tested against the Bulldogs. Georgia pretty much cruised through most of the season. They struggled against Kentucky and almost lost to Missouri. They briefly lost their No. 1 ranking but got it back when they defeated Tennessee 27-13 on November 5th of this year.
QB Stetson Bennett has thrown for 3,425 yards and 20 touchdowns. The Bulldogs also have three backs over 500 yards. Kenny McIntosh (709 yards, 10 TDs), Daijun Edwards (681 yards, 7 TDs) and Kendall Milton (533 yards, 6 TDs) lead the attack. Tight End Brock Bowers has 52 catches for 726 yards and six scores. Wide Receiver Ladd McConkey has 51 catches for 675 yards and five scores.
