ARLINGTON, TX – With the Bowl season and the holidays ramping up to ring in 2021, many are doing what they can to bring cheer to others. That shared sentiment rings loud at this year’s Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic, as the Sooners and Gators converge at AT&T Stadium Wednesday night.
As a part of the festivities surrounding this year’s Cotton Bowl, which have been significantly modified due to COVID-19, they are still ensuring the annual Hospital visits are kept intact. Though the teams were unable to visit the hospitals this year, with support from Florida and Oklahoma, the Cotton Bowl will be giving Scottish Rite for Children and Children’s Health a $20,000 donation.
“We’re incredibly thankful for the tremendous contributions Scottish Rite for Children and Children’s Health make within their communities,” said Karen Maroli, Goodyear’s vice president of marketing, in a press release. “Now more than ever, we are committed to demonstrating our support of these hospitals and the dedicated professionals who work tirelessly to help so many families.”
In addition to the donation, there will be an in-game tribute, specially made for them. This will include a pictorial montage from past visits. As an added bonus and gift for the hospitals, two customized helmets were made, one for each hospital. These will be delivered to each respective hospital postgame, with signatures from both head coaches and the team captains.
Upon arrival in Dallas, both head coaches, Lincoln Riley of Oklahoma and Dan Mullen of Florida signed the helmets.

A fine touch of cheer from the Cotton Bowl and both teams as they give back to the health care workers who do all they can to ensure children’s health and wellness in North Texas. While the world is reeling from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, positivity has shined through as many are coming together to give back and support their communities.
