KANSAS CITY, KS – After a long day that included media sessions bright and early, and two practice sessions, Natalie Decker took to the track at Kansas Speedway for Digital-Ally 250 qualifying.
“We’ve been here before so that definitely helps because it is not new to me and it’s not something where I have no idea what to expect.” said Decker ahead of qualifying, “That did help a lot. The truck was super free in the beginning and we were struggling with the handling in the first practice. The second practice we got a lot better. I am excited for qualifying to see what that’s like.”
Her team was able to make some adjustments to her No. 54 N29 Technologies Toyota Tundra ahead of qual as clocked in 15th fastest in qualifying with a 30.814-second lap, only 0.355-seconds off pole winner Matt Crafton. That time clocks in 0.423-seconds faster than her best practice time from earlier today.
Her DGR-Crosley teammate, Tyler Ankrum in the No. 17 May’s Hawaii Toyota Tundra will start on the front row to start the race after clocking in at 30.472-seconds, just 0.013-seconds off the pole sitter. Ankrum was the fastest qualifying rookie at the track and posted his third top-10 qual spot of the season. Ankrum clocked in 0.247-seconds faster than his best practice time.
It is both Decker and Ankrum’s first truck race at the track. However, Natalie has raced her twice previously in the ARCA series. This will be Ankrum’s first rodeo at the Speedway.
Here’s the full starting lineup for tonight’s Digital-Ally 250 at Kansas Speedway. The Green flag is set to drop at 7:30 pm CST.
