LOS ANGELES — The National Football Championship has descended upon Los Angeles – and everyone can be a part of the action for FREE! Before defending champion Georgia and TCU battle it out at Sofi Stadium on Monday, January 9th, fans can compete at “Playoff Fan Central” in the LA Convention Center. The three-day, family-friendly interactive experience will include games, clinics, pep rallies, autograph signings, special guest appearances, and exhibits, all celebrating the game.
“We looked at the NCAA, the Super Bowl, all of these similar events and thought, what do you do for fans leading up to the National Championship game?” says Ryan Hall, Senior Director of Public event and sponsorships for College Football Playoff. He continued, “It’s really about growing the next generation of fans, so we have events where mom, dad, kids, all kinds of families can come out and just have a good time.”
Those attending the event will be immersed in activities that mimic the play on a real gridiron, such as AT & T’s Touchdown Dash, Dr.Pepper’s “The Fansville” State Fair, ESPN Score for Local Schools football toss, Allstate kicking station, Goodyear tire throw, and Chick-fil-a obstacle course.
There will also be a Ram truck “Tailgating Zone,” a Modelo “Beer Garden” and food and drink booths for those members who are less athletically inclined or just want to hang out. Furry friends of the family can even get in on the action with the “Puppies at the Playoff” dog park.
Items from the Chick-fil-A College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta will also be displayed during the event. In this area, fans can gaze at some of the football legends’ helmets and jerseys, test their college football trivia knowledge, and see how they ‘measure up’ to some of the football greats with a life-size ruler.
Fans may even have a chance to meet their favorite player in person.
“Every year, we have what we call our legends come back. We have Hall of Famers, both college and NFL. Georgia and TCU both have rich heritage and history, so fans will probably see a lot of their players come back. Ladainian Tomlinson, former TCU Horned Frogs, might make an appearance. Caleb Williams might be here for USC, and you never know who else might show up.”
It remains to seen if Georgia or TCU will be the team to make winning memories during Monday evening’s game. Still, one thing is sure. Playoff Fan Central is already a winner giving fans memories to last a lifetime.
