The Florida State Seminoles (2-3) are coming off their biggest win of the year as they defeated then ranked #5 UNC 31-28. The Seminoles jumped out to a huge lead only to see a furious comeback attempt by the Tar Heels come up short. The win was Florida State’s first over a top-5 team since 2014 (No. 5 Notre Dame).
The Seminoles look to get to .500 as they travel to take on the Louisville Cardinals (1-4) tomorrow at noon EST on ESPN 3(online). The Cardinals hung in the game against then No. 4 ranked Notre Dame, losing 12-7.
Florida State leads the all-time series against the Cardinals 16-4, including winning four of the last six. The Seminoles are first in the NCCA in blocked kicks with five. Florida State is averaging 24.2 points a game, which is 57th in the nation. They have posted 400 plus yards of offense for consecutive weeks, both against top-5 teams.
Preseason All-ACC selection Asante Samuel Jr. is first in the nation with three interceptions, and eight passes defended. He’s also second in fumble recoveries with two.
Redshirt sophomore QB Jordan Travis has started the last two games for FSU. Travis leads all Power 5 QB’s in yards per carry with 5.8. In last week’s win, he passed for 191 yards and a touchdown while running for two more scores. On the year, Travis is 34 of 63 for 617 yards and three touchdowns. He’s the leading rusher on the team with 59 carries for 343 yards and four touchdowns.
For the Cardinals, they average 24.6 points a game, which is good for 56th in the nation. QB Malik Cunningham is 89 of 143 for 1,118 yards and ten touchdowns. Running back, Javian Hawkins has 100 carries for 519 yards for three touchdowns.
