Food City 500 at Bristol Postponed Until Monday

Bristol, TN– Rain, rain, go away, come again another day! We all know the saying, but the fans and drivers at Bristol did not get their wish.

After four red flags, with three of them due to weather, NASCAR announced just before 5:00 pm EST that the 2018 Food City 500 would be postponed until Monday at 1:00 pm EST as a large weather cell moved into the area.

The race was only 46 laps away from being called official, with the end of Stage 2 on the horizon. However, strong, consistent precipitation on the track would put the cars on the backstretch pit row and the teams covered up their vehicles.

It’s a repeat of last year’s spring race that had to be run on Monday afternoon. The difference here though is that there is a 50% chance of snow in the morning hours here in Bristol on Monday. Additionally, rain looks to be steadily on the way until late Monday afternoon, which would make for some possible racing under the lights.

For now, things will kick back up at Bristol Motor Speedway at 11 am tomorrow when the gates open for fans. The field will plan on getting back under green flag racing at 1 pm EST Monday afternoon. However, only time will tell when the green flag will actually drop.
