Talladega, AL– Kevin Harvick captured his first pole of the season, dominating both rounds of GEICO 500 qualifying as he looks to capture his 4th win of the season. It’s his 2nd career pole at Dega, with the other coming back in the spring of 2009, finishing the race in 12th.

In round 1 of qualifying, Kevin Harvick was fastest running a 194.275 mph lap. This came after having to replace tires on his No. 4 Busch Beer Flannel Ford, after trouble struck the No. 10 of Aric Almirola as he cut down a tire. Harvick ended up running over debris and would have to redo his lap as the caution came out.
Just missing the top 12 spots for a place in the 2nd round was Paul Menard in the No. 21. He was beat out by David Regan in the No. 38.
In round two, Harvick was again the fastest, and got faster, running a 194.448 mph lap time. Qualifying second was his Stewart-Hass Racing teammate Kurt Busch. Then coming in third and 4th in qualifying were two Toyotas of Martin Trux Jr. (3) and Denny Hamlin (4).
You can catch all the action on Sunday, April 29th with the drop of the GEICO 500 green flag at Talladega Superspeedway at 2:00 pm EST on FOX.
