Kyle Larson & Chase Elliott Lead Cup Series Practices at Richmond Raceway

Richmond, VA — Kyle Larson in the No. 42 was fastest on the track in the final practice running a 22.441-second lap. Rookie driver Darrell Wallace Jr. clocked in 2nd fastest in the final practice session coming just 0.068-seconds slower than Larson.

Larson was running nearly 2 tenths of a second slower in the final practice than in his first practice. That was quite the opposite for Wallace Jr. who ran 8th slowest in the first practice and improved his lap time by 2 tenths of a second.

Chase Elliott in the No. 9 ran the fastest time in the first practice with a 22.254-second lap time. In the final practice session, he would drop to 25th fastest on the track seeing his time fall off by 0.235.

Series leader and last weekend’s winner, Kyle Busch ran a 22. 412 in the first practice session, which was good enough for 7th overall. Then in the 2nd and final practice session, he ran a 22.596, which was 14th best in that practice session.
