LSU Bounces Back with Win over Vanderbilt

The 20th ranked LSU Tigers (1-1) are back on track after dropping a stunner last week to Mississippi State. They went on the road this week and got to .500 by defeating the Vanderbilt Commodores (0-2) 41-7.

The offense scored within 1:53 on their first five scoring drives. The offensive line did a better job protecting their quarterback, not allowing one sack.

Myles Brennan threw for four touchdowns and 337 yards for the defending national champion LSU. The victory extends the Tigers winning streak against the Commodores to nine. The defense had two interceptions and recorded two sacks.

LSU outgained Vanderbilt 498-266. The Tigers jumped out to a 14-0 lead on a pair of touchdown passes before Vanderbilt answered with a touchdown pass of its own from Ken Seals to Ben Bresnahan for eight yards.

The Tigers broke the game open with 27 unanswered points. Terrace Marshall Jr. had two catches, both for touchdowns, and Jontre Kirklin added two more touchdowns on 65 yards receiving. John Emery ran for 103 and a score.

One area that the Tigers will want to improve on is third down. They went 4 for 12 against the Commodores. Seals threw two costly interceptions for Vanderbilt. He went 11 for 25 and 113 yards.

Next up for LSU is a home game against the winless Missouri Tigers.
