The No. 5 Miami Hurricanes look to avoid a major setback when they host Bethune-Cookman (0-1) at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN+. Miami is coming off a statement 27–24 win over then-No. 6 Notre Dame, while Bethune-Cookman dropped its opener 42–9 to FIU.
Quarterback Carson Beck threw for 205 yards and two touchdowns in the win over the Irish. On the ground, running backs Mark Fletcher Jr. and CharMar Brown each carried 15 times, with Fletcher posting 66 yards and Brown adding 54 yards and a touchdown. Malachi Toney led the receivers with six catches for 82 yards and a score, while CJ Daniels added five receptions for 46 yards and another touchdown.
Defensively, Akheem Mesidor notched five tackles, including three solo stops and 1.5 sacks. Raul Aguirre Jr. and Rueben Bain Jr. tied for the team lead with six tackles apiece, while Bain also contributed half a sack and an interception.
The Hurricanes lead the all-time series 7–0 and have been dominant against FCS opponents, holding a 26–0 record over the past 40 seasons. Each of those wins has been by at least 20 points.
Bethune-Cookman struggled in its opener, allowing six rushing touchdowns to FIU. Wide receiver Javon Ross was a bright spot with six receptions for 109 yards. This matchup marks the second of three consecutive road games to begin the Wildcats’ season.
