ATLANTA, GA – On Saturday, Ohio State and Notre Dame took to the field at Mercedes-Benz Stadium for their first practices ahead of the 2025 College Football Playoff National Championship. The stadium, while empty, exuded a quiet magnificence with its crisp CFP branding and high-tech design, serving as a fitting stage for Monday nights epic showdown.
Ohio State opened the day’s practices, with head coach Ryan Day leading his team through drills during the media’s brief 15-minute viewing window. The Buckeyes displayed a methodical, workmanlike approach, emphasizing precision and execution. While the limited time offered only a small glimpse, their preparation mirrored the focus that has been a hallmark of their season.
Later, Notre Dame took the field under head coach Marcus Freeman. The Fighting Irish, like their opponents, worked efficiently through their routines, showcasing a disciplined, team-oriented effort. Freeman and his staff appeared intent on fine-tuning details as the Irish prepare for their first title game appearance in over a decade.
Though the stands were empty, the ambiance inside Mercedes-Benz Stadium hinted at the grandeur to come. The vivid CFP logos, banners, and championship décor gave the venue a polished, championship-ready feel, creating a striking contrast to the otherwise quiet surroundings.
Before the teams face off on Monday night, both head coaches will address the media during the final press conference Sunday morning.
