Playoff-Bound Michigan Rolls Iowa for Big Ten Title

Fresh off a long-awaited victory over archrival Ohio State, the Michigan Wolverines understood what was on the line at Lucas Oil Stadium on Saturday night. The Wolverines demolished the Iowa Hawkeyes 42-3 en route to the program’s first Big Ten Championship game victory and a league-high 43rd conference title.

Michigan running back Blake Corum started off the scoring with an electric 67-yard touchdown run. Josh Gattis’ Wolverines offense utilized some trickeration for their next strike. Donovan Edwards found Roman Wilson for a 75-yard score. Iowa would tack on a chip-shot field goal before the end of the first frame to bring the score to 14-3.

A scoreless second quarter sent both teams into the locker room with some work to do.

Simply put, the Wolverines responded and seized the moment with a playoff berth on the line.

Running back Hassan Haskins continued the momentum from his spellbinding performance in The Game last Saturday and parlayed it into two second half rushing touchdowns. Quarterback Cade McNamara found Erick All for a five-yard score and Donovan Edwards capped off the night with a one-yard rush.

Michigan proved they belonged on the national stage and will have at least one more opportunity to prove they’re worthy of more. A berth to the Orange Bowl or Cotton Bowl College Football Playoff Semifinals awaits the Wolverines. They will find out their bowl bid and their opponent Sunday at noon on ESPN.
