Purdue set for SEC test against Missouri

​Saturday’s contest between the Purdue Boilermakers (1-1) vs the Missouri Tigers (1-1) can be seen on the SEC Network at 3 P.M. central time. This will be the first true road game for the Boilermakers this year. This game will mark the first time since 2004 that Purdue has faced a team currently in the SEC. Sirius 192, XM 78 if you’re listening to the game.

Purdue is coming off a 44-21 win at home against MAC foe Ohio. Running back Tario Fuller had a career day with 142 yards and his first career touchdown. Purdue have won four in a row when a running back rushes for 100 or more yards.

For the Tigers, their offense is ranked fourth in the country through the first two games of the season. Missouri won its opener against Missouri State and lost to South Carolina last week 31-13. This is the ninth time that these two teams have met. The Boilermakers hold a 6-2 margin over the Tigers. This is the first meeting since 1980. The Boilermakers are 11-7 against the SEC.

Purdue ranks 72nd in run offense, 31st in passing offense, 46th in total offense and tied 45th in scoring offense. On defense, the Boilermakers are 84th in rushing defense, 98th in pass efficiency defense, 104th in total defense and tied 84th in scoring defense.

Missouri ranks 29th in rushing offense, 11 in passing offense, 4th in total offense and are tied 23trd in scoring offense. For defense the Tigers are 81st in rushing defense, 115 in passing efficiency defense, 90th in total defense and tied for 113rd in scoring defense.

A key in this game will be if the Boilermakers continue to employ the two-quarterback system. Elijah Sindelar has started both games this year and led Purdue to a 10-0 lead in the game last week. David Blough had a solid game and Purdue led 34-7 at the half.
