Tigers Upset Rebs To Get To Bowl Eligibility

The LSU Tigers became bowl eligible while knocking off previously unbeaten No. 7 Ole Miss 45-20. LSU is now 6-2 and 4-1 in SEC play. Ole Miss falls to 7-1, and 3-1 in the conference. LSU used a strong rushing attack to lead them to victory. They rushed 48 times for 252 yards and four touchdowns. 

Jayden Daniels lead the way with 23 carries for 121 yards and three scores. Josh Williams had the other score for LSU while also rushing 17 times for 76 yards. Armoni Goodwin added 55 yards on eight carries. 

The defense stepped up in the second half as the Rebels didn’t score and were outscored 28-0. Ole Miss lead at the half 20-17. They got out to a 7-0 lead in the first when Quinshon Judkins scored from six yards out. After an LSU field goal, Ole Miss would score again on another Judkins run, a three-yard score for a 14-3 lead. 

Ole Miss added a pair of field goals in the second. LSU would find the end zone for the first time at 12:11 when Jaray Jenkins scored on a 34-yard pass from Daniels. Daniels would then score on a three-yard run. 

The Tigers took the lead in the third quarter when Daniels threw to Mason Taylor for a one-yard score for a 24-20 lead. In the fourth, Daniels scored on an 11-yard run and a 17-yard run. Josh Williams had the final score for the Tigers on a one-yard run. 

Daniels was 21/28 for 248 yards and two touchdown passes to go along with his big day on the ground. 

For Ole Miss, Judkins had 25 carries for 111 yards and two scores.
