Written by Adrian Beecher

Talladega, AL – Michael Self in the No. 15 Sinclair Toyota ran a 52.629 lap at Talladega to win his first career ARCA pole, ahead of Friday night’s General Tire 200. He beat out Chase Purdy in the No. 8 BAMA Buggies Toyota, by only 0.005-seconds to grab the top spot. It will be the third start of the season in ARCA for Self, who finished the first race of the year at Daytona with a win.

ARCA Series points leader Sheldon Creed in the No. 28 United Rentals Toyota will start in the 4th position as he looks to get his first win of the season. Rising star Natalie Decker grabbed the 4th starting position, following up her pole-winning performance at Daytona, the only other restrictor plate race for ARCA.

Last years General Tire 200 winner Justin Haley will not be racing, as he has made the full time move to the NASCAR Truck series. However, last years 2nd place finisher Andy Seuss is in this Friday’s race, he will start 13th after qualifying with a 53.601.
