TAMPA, FLORIDA- With the College Football Playoff National Championship, comes the philanthropic efforts of the College Football Playoff Foundation, which is the CFP’s charitable group. College Football Playoff Foundation supports education and teachers across the country.
The organization will be hosting the Extra Yard for Teachers Summit on Saturday, January 7th at the Tampa Convention Center from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The event is a celebration of over 1,000 local K-12 teachers and features speakers, artists, and performers along with special guests.
Among those special guest’s is 2016 Fullbright U.S. Distinguished Teacher, Lavie Raven. He is creating hip-hop cultural murals which he described as “burners.” They will be on display throughout the weekend at the convention center.
“It will be a celebration of children on earth, and educating to empower.” Raven, said of a surprise piece he is going to unveil.
Extra Yard for Teachers, which was founded in 2014, has provided over $2.5 million for CFP host cities. The funds support the direct classroom needs of those communities.
“Over $1 million has gone to classroom supplies throughout the area.” Britton Banowsky, College Football Playoff Foundation Executive Director Britton Banowsky said of the money raised for the Tampa area.
“Teachers spend a lot of their own money on resources school districts cannot afford. We try to come in and close that gap.”
Extra Yard for Teachers Summit is an event that honors those teachers, and it will provide them with an experience that will provide lasting memories.
