CFP Foundation Hosts Battle of the Bands in Partnership with Entergy and Little Kids Rock

NEW ORLEANS, LA – As a part of the College Football Playoff Foundation’s Extra Yard for Teachers initiative, a battle of the bands was held on Friday morning at the George and Joyce Wein Jazz and Heritage Center in New Orleans.

Several middle school bands performed, in hopes of being selected to perform at the annual Extra Yards for Teachers Summit on Saturday afternoon. Ahead of the selections, though, high school bands will have a battle on Saturday morning.

The battle of the band’s event was specifically designed to allow students from schools in New Orleans the opportunity to showcase their musical skills. One of the many schools to perform on Friday was the Ben Franklin Math & Science Elementary School. Saturday Lusher Charter High School will be among the list of schools performing.

After the final selections are made early Saturday, the finalists will perform in a celebrity judged battle at the Extra Yard for Teachers Summit, held at The Filmore. The initiative was made possible by the CFP Foundation and their partners Entergy and Little Kids Rock.
